I am starting to think of Googles position as a monopoly. It has become extremely hard to not use Google AdWords for marketing your website, and most businesses will just fail not doing so. I remember from a coupe of years Micorosft got in trouble with this and was fased with the DOJ. I no both MS and Google are trying to improve their services but I wander when somebody is going to take on Google in court. I can no longer see the difference between Googles position and that of Ms Windows in terms of binding their users and crushing the competition.
What's your idea on this?!

Re: Does Google have a Monopoly position?
Good question!
I don;t know if they are breaking any rules though. I bet Google has a team of lawyers on this to see if all their products are conform laws. Also I think Google still has a good reputation with a lot of people They have not yet been recognized as people that make a lot of money in a way that may be frowned upon. I wander how long this takes, but considering they are giving away most of their products for free and are actually only making money from advertisers, which is a group that has money anyway and actually loves adWords, I don't think this will happen any time soon!
It is tough to say that Google has a monopoly mainly because there are so many competitors in the field. They really aren't trying to muscle anyone out either.

I think that much of Google's monopoly comes from its competitors not really finding an alternative to page rank.
