 Tracking Goals without value
Hey!
I'm new to this board so hope my question has not been asked. Why is it that when I implement a Goal in MS analytics I have to specify a value. In Google this is not necessary. I mean, in my oppinion, goals should not always have a direct value attached to them. A registration or signing up for a newsletter is a decent goal for a website visitor, without a direct value. Of course the chances that the visitor will be coming back increase after doing so, and in turn they might by a product or click an add, but there's no direct value to these kind of goals.
Why does MS only allow goals to be set up wit a value?
Thanks in advance,

 Re: Tracking Goals without value
Everybody seems to be having the same problems. Microsoft need to get these things sorted out, because right now Google is winning.

Kingsoyer, welcome to the forums. Please remember, Microsoft Analytics is still in Beta. I hope MS will read you comments and will take action accordingly. You guys do seam the only ones on the internet giving feedback: what-features-would-you-like-to-see-t6.html

Thanks for the comments... Any thoughts on the question at hand? Why do I need to specify a value to my goals, Google doens't do this. Should I use paths instead, eventhough I can only create 5 of them?

 Re: Tracking Goals without value
5 Paths should be sufficient for moth sites. Goals are only related to ROI; to sites that actually make money on certain pages. Funnels do the same, but better.

Indeed, as Admin says, gaols are specifically set up to allow you to track the amount of money each action a user takes (clicks on a link). Use paths or funnels if your pages have no direct vallue.

 Re: Tracking Goals without value
Why not just asign a 0.01 dollar value to them and recalculate it later? Might be a bit cumbersome...

 Re: Tracking Goals without value
There's no point in setting up goals without value. You can use other reports to see what pages are being visited. Goals are useful because they have value.

Yes, when some something is in the Beta stage it still has a ways to go before it shakes all the bugs out.
